What to Expect from Your Family Photoshoot by the Sea
Whether you’ve booked a family photoshoot with me or received a gift voucher (valid for 18 months), you’re probably wondering what it’ll actually be like on the day. Here’s a little guide to help you feel prepared and excited!
Choosing a Date
Once you’re ready, we’ll pick a date for your photoshoot. For seaside shoots, we usually aim for a time with lovely natural light – think soft morning or a late afternoon glow. A few days before the shoot, I’ll touch base to check the weather. If it doesn’t look ideal, we can simply move to another day. Flexibility is key by the coast!
What Happens on the Day
Seaside shoots are relaxed and fun. I love capturing genuine family moments – running along the beach, playing in the sand, laughing together. Don’t worry if your kids aren’t sure at first – I’ll guide you through everything. And if it’s a nice day, the kids can always finish the photoshoot with a paddle in the sea and some waves – a perfect way to end!
Outfit Changes
For longer shoots, you could bring an alternative outfit option or some accessories. It gives you variety in your photos and can really change the mood of your images. Simple layers and colours that complement the beach work best. Soft neutrals, light blues, creams, and earthy tones usually photograph beautifully.
Tips for a Great Shoot
- Keep it relaxed – don’t stress about perfect poses.
- Bring a favourite toy or snack for younger children.
- Feel free to bring a blanket or prop for a cosy touch.
By the end of the shoot, you’ll have a collection of natural, joyful photos that capture your family by the sea – perfect for framing, sharing, or keeping as a lasting memory.
